Edgar Allan Poe, (Boston, January 19, 1809 - Baltimore, October 7, 1849). He was a literature writer and a romantic journalist, he wrote different kinds of stories, poems, and critics. He is considered not just to be a master in the short story, but also the creator of the detective style, and helped to give origin to the science fiction genre. He recreated the Gothic novel, and he is admired for horror stories. He was also one of the first authors who tried to live from the art of writing, however, this idea did not work.

The Masque of the Red Death could be described as a short gothic story. It has been described as an allegory about the inevitability of death since no one can escape it, rich or poor, famous people or just one of the crowds, everyone, sooner or later, will feel its slow or rapid last kiss. The first publication of this story dates from 1842 in Graham's Magazine. Since then, it has been one of readers’ favorites among Poe’s works.

Moral decay: The castle, the prince Próspero and his closed circle of friends in the castle represent the moral and physical decay of the time.
The seven rooms and the red windows: their colors show how life passes in each person, how life begins, how it grows, and how it ends.
The clock: it sounds every so often, creating a scene of mystery, announcing that members of the court are in danger, and death is coming,. It also has been interpreted as the awareness of people, its sound, could be also the prince and his court's sins.
The red death: represents the inevitability of death and divine justice, from which no one escapes, regardless of social stratum, it gives the story an atmosphere sinister and uncertain.
Prince Prospero and the courtiers: represent the moral decay of the society, power, and arrogance, as well. They thought they could be sheltered in the castle instead of protecting and caring for people outside, doing something that helps everyone survive.
Death as a punishment, the Red Death is revealed as the inevitable punishment for the arrogance of Prince Prospero and the other nobles.
In the story, the disease mentioned is the red death. It has been said that maybe the author recreated or satirized the disease called Tuberculosis, also known as white plague or consumption. The author's wife died because of it. From 2020 to 2022 the world faced the COVID-19 pandemic, and as the Red Death it took many lives which allows saying that life is a plague and people should be conscious about their role in this world.

In conclusion, the work of the "Mask of the red death" by Edgar Allam Poe gives us a social justice from a perspective which makes us think that no one is exempt from death, no one is immortal in this life, the rich for much money and for many things they build for their protection will never be exempt from dying, the nature of each person leads to both his birth and his death, in this work Poe lets us see that inevitable death that stalks us all no matter wealth or power, no matter how much we try to hide or hide it, because from my point of view the great party dem mask that took place was just trying to hide everything that was happening at that time.
